A hearing screening is quick, easy, and free, and it’s the only way to accurately know if you are experiencing hearing loss. If the screening indicates hearing loss, we will then recommend a comprehensive hearing evaluation to identify the type and extent of your problem.
The importance of a hearing screening
While it’s a good idea to get as much information as you can about hearing and hearing loss, it’s critical that you receive a hearing screening from a professional. Nearly 35 million Americans (and 30% of people over 65) have some form of hearing loss. Because it happens slowly over time, it can be tough to notice. Yet only 13% of doctors screen for hearing loss. This is why Alexandria Audiology recommends that adults be screened at least every decade through age 50 and at two–year intervals after that. The sooner a hearing problem is detected and addressed, the more effectively it can be treated.
